Sorry man. I dont think you understand the difference between a civil union and gay marriage. Civil union would allow a couple to get benefits without a state's recognition of marriage.
Definition of civil union: "parties to a civil union have all the same benefits, protections, and responsibilities under law as spouses in a marriage."
Then you ask, why would gay couples not accept a civil union and fight for marriage? answer = Their agenda

This is left wing thinking in a nut shell. I heard this story from a fellow LoDer. Lets take the accumulative GPA from 3 people. John 4.0 student, john studies hard everyday, and works his ass off for his grades one day to be a successful entrepreneur. Peter has a 2.5 GPA, he is a regular fuck up that parties regularly and is in college for the parties, but who cares daddy is paying his way through college anyway. Paul, peters best friend also has a 2.5 GPA and attends Peters parties and cheats off peters test only to realize peter is a fuck up just like him. But wait, we have liberals that can change this situation. Lets take there GPA's add them up 4.0 + 2.5 + 2.5 = 9.0 then divide by 3. Which equals a 3.0. Lets "equally" distribute their GPA's and give them each a 3.0. This is what left wing liberals want. They want to penalize the hard working and give it to the lazy. In the end John gets to watch these party animals freeload off his hard earned-well deserved money.
