It's what I use, gather a few samples from modarchive.com, get a midi keyboard and go for it. Dance music is best done with offset values, using electronic sound sample waves.
However Fruityloops is the one everyone is using now for mixing, but it's GUI is way too complex for first time users.
Tracker comes with Aryx.s3m a scream tracker module, however I reccommend the .XM (fast tracker module) or the .It (Impulse tracker.) You don't even need GUI training from the help menus, just load the Aryx.s3m into the tracker and start fucking around with the channels, and effects.
I'm working on a whole new original mix of my own, but my midi keyboard decided to stop working, so I need to save up for a new midi keyboard.
However, fruity loops is an awesome mixing program, but it comes with real shitty default samples, they're just about as good as the samples programmed into your local midi hardware device, and samples are not easy to find for fruity, since most of the sound configuration is done by manuel, and not by code, whereas ModTracker is ALL code.
