Don't play it. Just find it ridiculous that you are arguing that one is vastly better than the other when the entire genre is pretty much the same thing. This isn't a UO to DAOC comparison. It is like comparing EQ to WoW. It is simply a polished version of something that has already been done many times with a few different gimmicks here and there.

In one you hit nodes, and in the other you dig in trashcans. One has RNG where you can find a gun laying on a counter, in the other you have to craft the gun. One has dinos, and the other has cars. I will concede that hardcore battle royal is pretty good though.

How can you compare dinos to cars, seriously? When did cars turn into a transformer and start destroying bases? Definitely new to me... one game is level based and the other isn't. Quite easy to argue that one is vastly superior than the other son.

You can't use a car to damage a wooden base in H1Z1? Wtf is that? I promise you I can drive a car through your house irl. I didn't mind the persistent levels of ARK. I actually thought it was an interesting idea. They were fast. I remember getting like 40 levels out of the 60 in a day. I did hate the idea of pvping with a dino instead of pvping with a gun...so I never did it.

I mean if we judged them both on the official servers, yeah I can agree that H1Z1 is in a better place, but if you play an ARK server with dino taming disabled then they are pretty much the same thing.

Playing a player run server on ARK would be no different than playing a CS player run server. Player skill would be mediocre at best after all the good players were banned for "hacking" just like the hundreds I was banned from on CS. Pub servers end up being quite the bore.

Official servers are the only thing that matters in the end. That is where the real competition comes from with any game.

Playing level based FPS games at the very least is quite idiotic. Skill from an FPS game is developed over time. How does being level 1 make me shoot any different than at max level? It simply doesn't. Games have to implement artificial barriers/constraints to make something like that to be feasible. Don't see how anyone could actually play a game like that. Crafting skills is one thing, but combat skills in an FPS game being effected by a level is just plain stupid. I don't know if ARK is like that since I have never played it. However, just the thought of leveling in an FPS game is just a major turn off. Couple that with dinos and an incompetent team that can't even handle an amateur gaming engine... it just tops the cake if you ask me.

This is nothing new son of a son. Think of Battlefield series. You have to play 20 million matches to get xp to unlock the better guns and ancillary items. How's that so different from leveling in Ark? Both effect combat abilities.

While the better guns won't make a huge difference if one player is significantly more skilled than the other, they can make a huge difference between players of similar skill levels. Take the flood zone map in BF4 for example. Once I got the automatic shotgun (the USAS-12 I think), I just mowed people down like nothing.
