In the live stream today they said there will be town sieging. The big cities will be nearly exempt from this and things like player towns are going to be more susceptible, from my understanding so far. They said they are working out how that will all play out and will give more info then, but it would affect housing, trade, etc.

They also mentioned they are considering full loot. Ways they mentioned were a hardcore pvp flag, settings on zones and towns, etc. Right now their current plan is doing 1 lootable item and the previous owner has the ability to pay a "ransom" in gold for the item, the amount being generated by the server based on the value of the item.

I have a soft spot for any game created by Richard Garriott, period. However, this choice of whether or not to flag for pvp bothers me. Just reminds me too much of trammel which ruined my favorite game ever. It would be nice if they would just make the most valuable items (be they gear, spells, dyes, whatever) in zones that were PvP only. That way the carebears would have a choice to risk conflict and loot loss or just pay premium prices while farming in safe areas.

I am optimistic that they are considering partial loot though. I hope that's partial loot for everyone, not by choice to flag pvp only.

It's so tough to balance properly though and keep the carebears happy and no carebears = dead game. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they create something amazing, like they did before.

Trammel was an identical copy of Fel. Tram ruined the game for more reasons than just giving players a safe zone. They pretty much made an exact copy of the world on every server.

The devs are listening to the player base and making changes accordingly. It would be great if you guys would hop on SOTA forums and supported our cause laugh

It really isn't like tram system at all, though, even in its current state. PvP players run around with bright yellow names and [PvP] appended to their names. When you're in towns and amongst the cowards they are basically like interactive NPC's at that point. When other PvPers role through, their tags are loud and it can be on anywhere, anytime. This kind of puts PvPers in a class all of their own.

You can't toggle the flag on and off on a whim either. You have to visit a location.

Drawback as it stands now is other than getting the fights, there isn't much value to the PvP right now. You ghost someone, no loot, and they can either zone back in or get summoned. The biggest reward now is bullying other PvPers out of harvesting and shopping and shit. Randomly killing people of course is it's own reward, too.

The foundation could work but it all hinges on what they bump reward and loss to.
