So I just found out that one of my good buddies has a grow room. He sells directly to the dispensaries. For those of you not from California, these are the places you go to legally buy marijuana if you have a prescription.
Anyway, this fucking guy is making about $6,000 a month doing this. His entire grow room, with the lights, etc only cost him $4,000 to build.
And now that it's legal here, he sells it all at one time after each harvest instead of having to sell it on the street in small quantities.
So in short, my friend is growing pot and making more money than me for a job I went to school for....
Wow...

The #1 dispensary in California pays $500,000.00 a year in taxes alone. If he doesn't have to pay taxes, it's only because the disp he's supplying is taking a chance and doing it under the table, which happens a lot and imo is pretty disconcerting to the people trying to make it a legit business/industry. Dispensaries have been called the new "gold rush" since they've been around. Still investing billions of tax payer dollars to prevent something the majority want legal. Marijuana busts trump all other busts when it comes to volume, no one is saying "make all drugs legal". I don't really understand why it's even a topic anymore, subtracting money invested specifically against weed and adding the taxes that could be paid from it has never really added up to make sense to me. The arguments remind me a lot of prohibition, it would make accessing weed more safe, controlled, and social. A buddy of mine (who's garage is posted above) runs a cannibus club (requires same ID as dispensaries) where you can look at a menu, choose what type of weed platter you want and chief on a hukka while you check your email or what not. Kind of a internet cafe/hukka bar, with a stage for bands to play on weekends (who also need the ID's).

Yup tax free cuz it's under the table.
And yep Dhal, these dispensaries are doing it under the table.
I'm in agreement with you on most everything you said, and I don't even smoke bud.
In addition I would add that marijuana is a gateway drug. How many people you know that smoked pot and stopped there? I'm not sayin it never happens, but it's rare. Most people continue on from there. For me, it was acid, E, and coke. This was in my teenage years of course.
I feel that if you legalize it and take away it's "taboo", less kids will do it out of rebellion. Consequently, I think less kids would then be moving on to harder drugs.

Fucking cash crop. Why the US doesn't legalize and regulate and make bank is just dumb. What else can you grow in 90 days and sell for millions of dollars? $$$

All of them. Anyone I know who does anything other than smoke pot started with huffing something or other, or had families who were down with the dirty that they got their hands on.
