Is anyone playing this game? It is pretty sweet. The cell shaded graphics are nice, the PvP is fast paced and fun.

The Hero System is by far the best system ever designed when it comes to gaming. The ultimate form of freedom in my opinion. I have heard bad things about the game though, mainly the control. I have been thinking about trying it out since I simply love the system.

played the beta good game but the pvp is set up for team death match style..

the customization is good, unique character design and a good travel system.

if the arenas become more competitive it will definetly be a step in the right direction atleast for me. they need to fix some of the balance issues especially with the different stances like offensive/defensive/balanced etc... healing and defense/block was way too OP.

Was skimming the forums, dont know if I dig the auto targeting, kind love DF for the fps style but cant really work around that with the hero system to tell you the truth.

Wondering what powers they kept in. If they have them all, I could make a damned near unstoppable character.

How many points do they start you off with? 250? Do they have disadvantages etc for your powers? Can you buy them off?

hmm well good luck hitting someone in this game w/out auto targeting lol (atleast with a spell).. super speed, flight.. etc.. would make it nearly impossible.

Anyway I didn't play city of heros so I can't tell you whats still in.. and it sounds like they re did the way stats are distributed.. I didn't get any points to distribute to plus dex/str etc I had to purchase a +8 dex or +8 str talent or what ever it was...

I'm assuming thats what your refering to with the 250?? like 250 dex?

saw it at GenCon and talked to the devs, they were excited about it.
Jack Emmert talked non-stop about the game and the story behind it, that guy has all the trivia in the world in his head. If he could be bothered to play on Jeopardy he would dominate that shit.

It looked nice but I don't really know much about it.

Seems they are not working it like the PnP game.

Here is an example

30 str cost the guy 20 points.

Of his 250 points for his character, 144 was spent in attributes and 106 was spent in powers.

Pretty much, using the system ( the PnP system ) the base powers set could make anything from a chair to a dog, super hero to space ship. It was all defined in how the power creation was used.

Example here

Well the one thing I didn't like about how the attribute points got raised is the fact once you choose the +8 STR you will never be able to choose that again, in the end characters start to get "balanced" out to become closer to the same thing.. or caped out how ever you want to look at it.

I mean people should be able to take +8 str EVERYTIME if they want... the game basically forces you to take secondary and third attribute types that you may not want...

For example I wanted my guys ego and dex to be huge (crit chance + crit severity) BUT after I took the +8dex and +8ego I was forced to choose stats like +5dex +5str and after that +3dex +2str +2int +2con... was kind of gay.

You could specialize more with items.. in most cases post level 18 the items were signifigantly better than the attribute bonus' you would get.

They should have just used a system more similar to SB... their whole game is designed around creative customization and yet that part feels limiting.

Never played SB so I cant comment on their system. I am tossing the idea around in my head on purchasing CO or not.. I could but I am afraid I might be wasting my money and I hate doing that.
