So i heard of this through movies and religious nuts that classic rock was full of backmasking. Never really thought much about it, or really didnt care. I think the most famous reference i remember was in the movie "detroit rock city"... great movie.

So i was in the mood to hear the song we all heard a billion times, "Stairway to Heaven" when i stumbled across this video.

Seems pretty neat, I guess there is two ways to believe this shit.

1) Just a coincidence, People hear what they want to hear, and this just happened to be a more popular line during the crusade to end that evil rock and roll.

or

2) It was a hidden message, proof is in the abstract lyrics and the awkward pronunciation of phrases and lines in the song.

Either way its still a decent song, I was just wondering what you guys thought about this. Also here is a link to the full song backwards with someone interpreting the song. I think its a stretch but damned if the words to match up a little bit. I just think that one link is the most famous, and most reliable in this matter.

Edit: Ment to put this in general discussion, sorry.

I think it's nonsense. It would take far too much time to design a song that way.

ALSO if you listen to it played backward and don't look at the words on the screen, then the majority of it is not understandable anyway. But either way it gives those born agains something to complain about.

Listen to it without someone plastering on the screen what THEY think they heard. It makes absolutely no sense. Just someone trying to convince you of what you are hearing.

If you want to hear some truely scary shit, check out this supposed exorcism recording from russia. Its been posted before and it gives me chills still.

There is a theory that we sometimes speak in reverse subconsciously. This is my favorite example, and you can reverse this clip to verify it. (right click and save) . It is an interesting theory. You can find more on google if you search for reverse speech. I suppose it could be possible.

there are definitely songs that do that, but it's 100% intentional. if it ever happend by accident, i would throw it in there as bullshit also and say it was staged.

i had a walkman (i'm old) in high school that had 2 buttons that you could use to flip from one side of a tape to another, i took out the spring so i could hold the buttons half way and listen to stuff backwards (when i first heard about this stuff, i think it was from the movie "gate").

anyways, it would play both sides of the tape at the same time, so i recorded all my slayer albums to a tape with nothing on the other side. particularly the song "hell awaits" intro, says "slay god" in a creepy whispery way for a while, when you play it backwards it definitely says "join us". there's all kinds of shit like that in slayer chorus in all kinds of songs. but again, that's their gimmick, and it's 100% intentional.
