I differ with you in that I actually like Metallica. Where we agree is paying for shit you like. I am not above downloading an album I never had any plan to buy, just to check it out. Usually it confirms my thought that I would never buy it, but when an exception comes up, like the newest Metallica album, I trot my ass down to Best Buy and put my money on the counter. Every bit of music that is produced by someone I like, I own the CD.
Agree with your last sentence. I bought myself a guitar and my kid a bass, and we learn songs we like and ACTUALLY play them instead of wasting time playing that gay game.

I saw the Cure at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver in May. I really enjoyed the show, and it was completely sold out. If you ever get a chance to see a show there, DO IT.
As far as Plex's comment about not many shows being worth $80 to see, I disagree. I paid much more than that to see the Cure and would do the same for other bands or other forms of entertainment I like, such as good seats at my favorite team's stadiums.

Don't worry about these emo fruitcakes Dirty. They are so hyped up about the "sellout" label Metallica has, it wouldn't matter how good the cd is. If their wristcutting friends ever got word that they liked a mainstream band instead of those piss-ass underground bands that 12 people show up too.......

Although ive only listened to three songs off the new album I think its better than their last two albums.I dont know if im sold yet though. Soon as I find the rest of the streaming songs I can listen too then ill see if its worth buying..Theyre heading in the right direction with this one though.
To add to that shit about sounding like the old metallica blah blah it wasnt about that.. it was a great metal band turning into a faggot pansy alternative band. I couldnt possibly train/compete or get ready to do something crazy and push myself listening to load ot reloaded......

Definitely better than Load, Re-Load or St. Shit-Anger... On par with the Black album.
The problem I have with it, are all the stupid bridges. Its like each song is really 2 different songs and they put some crappy bridge between them to tie them together.
The guitar solo's just don't do it for me either. I won't compare it to their old stuff, rather, if you just compare it to any great metal song, it will have guitar solo that you will memorize and "sing" along with the song... Most of the solo's just dont do it, and I've listened to the album a lot.
Hettfield's singing brings it down a 1/2 a notch
It is an addicting album though, and the riff's are pretty tight. I dig songs 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 the most, and probably song 9 the most... even though its an instrumental.
