I stopped in to a major government building the other day with just some time to kill. It was built to house the top brass of the IL state government. Took this little tour thingy given by a government paid guide. 1st off the building was massive, state of the art, and amazingly beautiful. The 2nd thing I noticed there was no body in there with halls empty and most offices occupied but closed. This is mid day during the middle of the week, NOT the weekend. Our guilde told us this was a normal thing. She showed us the the multiple kitchens with hired gourmet chefs, unused. The chefs and staff all there mind you. Took us by the the governors personal office. Ive been inside budwiesers personal excs offices and the governors was nicer. His staff all there just reading books to kill time in the back offices. The guide took plenty of time to explain stuff like this and gave us a little story too. She said the governors wife refused to live in the provided mansion in the captiol area, insisting to stay in Chicago. The governor instead flys by private jet back and forth each day to work. The times he does show up to his job post of course. The jet was his personal governors jet paid for with tax dollars. Was pretty eye opening how these guys and girls live like royality without doing shit it seems.
Three days after being home from my road trip, my local paper had an article about IL closing all state parks for a period of time due to lack of funds and going over budget.
