The Japanese guy used a projector onto a coat, he admitted it later (regarding the previous claim). This one is not a visible light event, but rather microwaves. Microwaves are MONSTEROUS waves when compared to photon waves. The method used to resonate the waves behind the object works great for big waves (ie: microwave / radar / radio ) however is useless for nanometer wavelength signals at this time (as the sensing / delivery systems are not capable of operating in the same manner).
They did not "bend" the waves around the object, they signaled and re-echoed it on the backside. It is simply a byproduct of faster signal processing.
Me <=== Less than impressed.
