From what i read about this cloak is that if someone is plainly looking at the cloak you can't see it, but the asian one that's been around (the ball and the jacket) it's more of a camera trick in the sense that if you were looking at that same ball/jacket in the video irl you can't see through it, but through a camera you could...

The Japanese guy used a projector onto a coat, he admitted it later (regarding the previous claim). This one is not a visible light event, but rather microwaves. Microwaves are MONSTEROUS waves when compared to photon waves. The method used to resonate the waves behind the object works great for big waves (ie: microwave / radar / radio ) however is useless for nanometer wavelength signals at this time (as the sensing / delivery systems are not capable of operating in the same manner).
They did not "bend" the waves around the object, they signaled and re-echoed it on the backside. It is simply a byproduct of faster signal processing.
