Like TEN (Total Entertainment Network) which had internet Duke Nukem 3D. I started playing that in 95 under the name Quidge <img src="/~stretch/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Best part is that it was Beta and free...it then disappeared when they started charging for it due to other free services out there.

Duke Nukem 3D was quite possible the best FPS of all time. Gotta love the voice acting

I don't recall what year that was but it was well before UO's time.
Also, I had played some MUDs but not with any dedication.
If it's any help, I paid by the HOUR for AOL when I played Gemstone 3.

Back in the 80's I had an Apple II GS. I had a football game, Karateka, and Dungeon Master that was a FP Dungeon crawl game that pwned back then. Oh and Arnold Palmer Golf. Then my floppy disk drive took a shit and I was pissed for a long time.

Neverwinter Nights on AOL for 3 bucks an hour. I started in 92 and played til AOL went unlimited monthly usage and no longer profited from trying to keep people online so they closed the game down. It was one of the best pvp games ever made... and no one knew that pvp actually existed in it (including the devs) til someone accidentally hit someone else with an ae fireball. Those were the days...
