what is a good brand of laptops to buy? ive never had much luck with dell desktops so i am kind of weary of investing in a dell laptop. im looking for a laptop that will run games like wow, bf2, that kinda stuff, along with my programs for school and stuff. any help would be appreciated.

if i were you, id just buy one for school and get a desktop for home. when youre walking around school and going back and forth, you dont want the crazy heavy shit that handles everything weighing you down. honestly, what do you need a laptop for school other than to take notes? are you utilizing some type of photoediting programs, etc? If thats the case, then I can understand, but most of the time, people just need a laptop that opens up MS Word and Excel, and they are pretty much good to go.

its retarded to be in class if you need to play something that requires all your concentration - seriously, why not stay at home that day? If its a crazy boring lecture, maybe opening up a game of chess or something small may be alright, but trying to cap flags and flying choppers in the middle of a lecture is downright assinine. gotta have the ability to at least switch back between notes and the game quickly.

Don't listen to them. Get the heaviest gaming laptop you can possibly afford. Whore yourself if you have to. UT is a pissant school and you can breeze through with a 3.0 easy. And I should know, I'm an Aggie. Though I picked A&M over UT because the traffic is better...

I have had no less than 20 laptops and this is the best of the best for games and work. It's pricey but worth it.

My Dell XPS M170 runs ever game out there, clean with no choppy video, or anything else. It's very light weight considering it's compenents, and it's just down right a bad ass system. If you have the money to buy a lap top, it's worth saving up for a Dell XPS M170. I paid about 3500 dollars for mine, but I had other add-ons, including more ram, a faster hard drive. I also saved over a thousand dollars with a Corporate discount through Coors I had access to, plus I used an online coupon. If you got the money, it's absolutely worth it.
