Say what you want about Reagan...One of the best presidents we've had.

I don't understand how he was such a good president. I am not saying he was bad, but people were wanting to put his face on Mt Rushmore for god's sake.

Reagan was fucking badass -- no doubt. but he also contributed to terrorism in his own lil' ways.
best example is pulling the marines out of lebanon after they bombed the base in beruit. that showed terrorists that the jaded americans are softies and will pull out whenever trouble comes knocking.
reagan also hooked up the taliban, ossama and co. to fight the evil commies. ok the soviets are gone (even though they actually regulated an entire hemisphere and controlled all of our current headaches), but now we get to play w/these guerilla maniacs. afghanistan bred the first wave of terrorists, and now iraq is training the new blood.
don't get me wrong, reagan was a pimp...but he contributed to the current state as well. no e-mail chain letter can convince me otherwise...the current republican party is occupied by the idiotic religious right.
btw, i just cheked out the reagan library, pretty cool...they are building a hangar for his airforce1.

Raegan is pretty much the founder of modern true Republican thought minus the religious influence. His actions to remove American marines was justified due to a fear of returning to a Vietnam-era mentality. I do not blame him, really, but he could have handled the situations better. However, he did more to destroy the Hammer and Sickle than any other president. Sure...JFK stood down the Cuban Missle crisis. Raegan got a Baywatch star to tear down the Berlin Wall.

now we're in the same situation -- sorta "vietnam-like", and we don't have a viable exit strategy. bush is a moron -- nowhere near the president that reagan was -- but can you be sure what reagan would have done in this situation based on his track record?
it's too hard to what-if this situation to death...but i think iraq was a huge mistake. i was for the war initially (before i was lied to), but now im changing my mind. i'm not saying we should bail and leave the mission un-accomplished, but looking back...it was a huge mistake.

Ehh...Only answer I can give is that after we get done in Iraq we should go back to Vietnam and surprise the fuck outta them.

Reagan was good because people made a lot of money during his era, like the Clinton era. People say reagan was bad because he created the middle class. Over all he was the last good president in my eyes. My parents made a lot of money in his time.
