Move this to the fps board if ya want, it's gone gold, hitting stores 8-5-04 I believe, I watched the ingame movie, looks amazing, I hope they didn't fuck it up, but every game that I know to have come from ID, wolfensitens, quakes and dooms, have usualy set the bar for FPS for a few years, hope they do it again.
I remeber when quake 2 came out, and I had a voodoo1 (woot) and I saw a red laser showing a red glare on the wall, back then that was un heard of.
Now you better have perfect shadows, water and physics to make "your" game stick out. I hope this game hits a home run on game play as well, I don't give a shit if I have to find red and blue keys again I just want it to scare the shit out of me.

FPS is dead to me as well. The last one that left an impression on me was avp 1 and 2, for almost giving me a heart attack like 34554 times.
Farcry really didn't do it for me, and the graphics didn't wow me, maybe I'm just burnt out. Also I'm only going to buy this for the single player, ut2k4 is the only MP I need as of now.

doom 3 is going to rejuvinate the FPS genre though, same as half life 2. counter strike 2 and quake 4 are both going to benefit greatly from these two games. quake 4 being the ultimate multiplayer game, in the end.

The only thing that makes an FPS a dead genre are all of the cheaters on Multi-player. Fuck the single player games, that shit was boring.
I hardly played Doom I, unless I played it multi-player. (Modem/DWANGO)
